Much of that dumb shit is solved by setting up in a dedicated room, away from the nonsense of the daily living space. Set up a single lounge chair, no one else in, wife closed off, and melt away and be transported in peace. Plus I recently acquired a black light as I listen to the likes of J.S. Bach or Johann Michael Haydn; a trip that's fun being immersed in.

I always keep a blade, some way to make a fire and something to mark with. That's in keeping with advice from my carpenter/farmer/blacksmith/hunter/leatherer/wheelwright grandfather.
