L'Orgue Mystique: Suite No. 24

I've been listening to this for 40 years. Same performance, Flor Peeters. Recently listened to it streaming from my smartphone with good ambient noise cancelling while walking down a busy street in Tokyo. Kind of a scary juxtoposition.

I wonder where Tournemire got the Zen shout at the end from. Peeters renders this with the sudden bite designed to drop kick the disciple into enlightenment. Other performances don't quite have it.

I don't have my full Decware compliment yet but I wonder if this track might not be a good audiophile test for....something.

And the ash-trays have retired
'Cause the piano has been drinking,
The piano has been drinking
The piano has been drinking,
