My SE84UFO and ZROCKII

OK, my ZROCKII arrived yesterday and today I thought I'd play around, hook it up and see what it sounds like. Now, I could have sworn it made my system sound magical. It could have been a placebo effect-I say this because my speakers are still being constructed and one of the drives is in a partially completed enclosure and the other driver is just sitting on the table out of the enclosure.
The one in the enclosure, does not have the bottom on, so the bottom part of the enclosure is sitting on a floor. The top isn't sealed, no does it have and insulation. The front part of the baffle is $2 cheap plywood that I am using to decide on how many ports I will use.... and the ports are just holes in the front, with no port tubes.
So I play The Girl from Ipanema, Kush life by Kurt Elling, a few songs by Harry Conick Jr. Oh my God! The sound is really amazing. I can only imaging what music will sound like once my speakers are complete.

Thanks Steve. Even though I bought my amp used, the wait for the ZROCK was well worth it.

Over the years I have purchased many components (not Decware) that have not achieved expectations.  Think the endless number of DAC's that were ok but.......

After finding that Lon has three of em I took notice.

The Cambridge CXN-V2 and the ZROCK2-25th have been the absolute best money spent in this house.

Morgan,

Welcome to the forums!  ZROCK2 was a gift from the audio Gods that actually got talked about dozens of times over that many years before I actually made one.  And sadly the motivation was to make the horrifying sound in our build-room that came as a result of pandora radio on a laptop -- sound less distractingly bad from out here in the QC area.  A classic example of using handicaps as tools for improvement.  Anyway, that was what the audio Gods used as motivation to get me to do it, and then later let me discover myself what an incredible hi-end tool this is.  What it does to the midrange I still can't get used to. : )

I find the exquisite tools in the ZBIT and the ZRock2-25th to be absolutely indispensable. I can't live without either......the myriad of audio concoctions and corrections is part of the lifeblood of the system.

Steve, your wonderful modesty has you refer to "the audio gods"......I call it sheer genius on your part! A+++!

Can anyone speak to the merits of the Cambridge CXNv2 versus the ZROCK? I know, they are two totally different products. However, I remember reading Steve stating that the CXNv2 yielded similar benefits of the ZROCK.
I am reluctantly thinking of stepping into the world of streaming, and budget is an issue, so if I can kill two birds with one stone with the CXNv2, that is my preference. I will give my dollars to Decware in other ways, promise Smiley
