power on/off question
02/17/20 at 00:06:05

Greetings,

I have a question regarding powering the MK4 on/off.

Instead of manually turning on/off both switches at the back of the amp each time, can I simply leave both switches on with power cord plugged in to the UPS all the time?
I usually turn my UPS on/off with its own switch and then pull it out of the wall socket completely once I am done listening.

Or is there an advantage using MK4 power switches to prolong its life (soft /gradual on mode or something similar built into the MK4?

Not a huge deal, just a convenience question.

Thanks.

I use one of Steve's ZLCs with all my equipment and I use the switches on the ZLC to turn individual components on/off and just leave the component switches in their "on" position.  I think this is the same as what you are proposing.  I don't think the MKIV switch is anything special and by leaving it on, you may be extending its life.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was asking.
