Nice room, HK!  I've been in touch with Greg at Pi Audio about the room treatment panels. I plan to give em a try very soon.

Thanks Geno. I think you'll be very happy with the diffusers. FWIW, I attached my diffusers to the walls with 2" long T-pins which are used for sewing. The panels are very lightweight and Greg can paint them with any Behr paint color you desire.

I really like the platform. Sonically, I noticed a slight decrease in noise as compared to my 3" maple platform w/ Herbie Audio footers.

In terms of SQ noise improvement to my system, I would rank them from greatest to least as follows: ZMA 25th Anniversary mods>Pi Audio uberBUSS power conditioner>diffuser panels>Zen platform.

To me the platform is icing on an already great tasting cake😊.

Roger,

What a great setup!!  The OB’s must sound amazing with your ZMA/ CSP3 25th/ and ZBIT combo.  The room treatment must really make that room sing!   The next time I am in your area, I would definitely love to come by for a listening session.

HK, after a big time delay because of Covid, I’m finally due to get my diffusers Monday. I’ve been meaning to ask how you attached yours to the wall? I thought about just letting them sit on the floor, but I like the way yours look.

Thanks,

Put the Omega XRS SAHO speakers back in the system this morning, supplanting the Caintuck Lil F15's for a spell. Damn these are magical speakers. Plan to spend a couple of weeks listening to these.

Then, hopefully my Modwright modded Cambridge CXN V2 will be arriving from Dan Wright.  Preparing for some major goosebumps 😁.

Glad you like them Geno. Dave's Pi Audio power conditioners are amazing as well. I have an UberBUSS for my source equipment and preamp and just ordered a MiniBUSS for my HT system. One of the biggest + changes to my listening system.

Well, I got my matching TT stand assembled and transferred some of the analog equipment to the new stand. Took some time to level the stand, but the results were worth it. A much less cluttered look which I really like😎.

CXN will go where the VDAC2 (modded TEAC NT503) now sits (3rd shelf up) and the small form computer atop the CD player will be gone.  One piece per shelf as God intended Smiley.

Roger...what an awesome setup and a terrific space!!
Very clean.  It made me think about my upcoming renovation and the layout.  I may need to add an extra outlet on the other side of my column.

I was looking at your Pi audio diffusers and it gave me an idea.  While the bride  would never go for that look in my living room… I think I could install them on both sides of my fireplace and then hide them by custom building canvass panel and placing them over the diffuser.  Not ideal...but I’m sure it will be better than nothing.

Dom,

Check out GIK's room correction options. You can get them in a multitude of fabric options, including I believe ones that look like framed pictures. Should pass the WAF test with ease.

Geno,

Thanks buddy. The ModWright PH 9.0X (modified 9.0) is still burning in. I've been busy burning in and reviewing some new cables from Hapa Audio which I have between my CXN and CSP3 preamp, so I haven't had much time spinning vinyl.

I expect to have the PH 9.0X fully settled in, in a couple more weeks. It's just starting to open up. Dan suggested giving it at least 100 hours. Anyway, more later.

I understand about not playing vinyl. It’s hard to stop listening to the fantastic modded CXN. It is downright addictive😉.  Hope the new cable you referred to works well for you. You connected via RCA or XLR?  With the Zen, I’m using a Zbit to take advantage of the XLR’s.  I guess with the ZMA, you can do either one?

Very best,

Geno,

Single ended RCA runs throughout my system. Also I did head to head comparison of TIDAL & Qobuz using Roon on the CXN over the past two weeks. Settled on Qobuz for SQ and transferred all my playlists over using Soundiiz. You can really hear the the difference with resolution 24 bit recordings. TIDAL no more for me.

The ModWright PH 9.0X with Dan's new modifications has about 50 hours on it. I've been spinning vinyl the last couple days to get the Lundahl transformers burned in. While only 1/2 way there I'm happy to say I'm very pleased with the upgrade.

Lots of detail, tight & deep bass, and an expansive soundstage is starting to emerge. Listening now to Steely Dan Gaucho after a series of jazz albums. Sound is very seductive.

Thanks Geno. About 16 lbs. of pulled pork from two big butts. Enough for several months. 17 hours @ 225° in the smoker and another 4 in pulling, packing & clean up, I'm pooped.. Next up a beef brisket and some ribs.

The RecTeq RT-700 wood pellet smoker/grill is the bomb. Controlled everything from my WiFi phone app. I do wish the smoker was self cleaning though😉.

System Update: I've been enjoying streaming Qobuz via Roon via WiFi through my Netgear Nighthawk X6S router to my MWI modified Cambridge Audio CXN V2. Thought I'd connect the router directly to my Pi Audio Group UberBUSS to see if there was any change in SQ.

Wow in a bad way! The router and cheap 12V power supply introduced a lot of static like noise into my system, just awful. Even on a different AC circuit I figured the routervia WiFi was introducing some noise/haze into my listening experience.

So I just inserted a 12V iFi Power X AC/DC converter to power the Netgear router. My intial reaction was "who turned up the volume?".  A blacker background too. I'll give this a week of play time in the system, but for $99.95 seems like a decent investment to solve router induced noise problems.

I love how we go from Audio Porn to Food Porn oh so quickly...get looking work there Hockessinkid. I bought a Brinkman basic bullet smoker from a divorce garage sale 15 years ago, did some of the mods I found on the web and Oh My does that baby perform. Three racks of baby backs max, capacity is not it's strong point but it does work well. Love the smoked meatball idea. If you haven't checked out Meathead's Amazing Ribs book, give it a look over. Got some great knowledge in there. Keep posting (Audio too) and happy eating....or listening. Chris.

I've recently changed my digital streaming set up a bit. After getting intermittent music hang ups with Roon streaming Qobuz via WiFi (even after a FIOS router & speed upgrade), I decided to go the Ethernet cable route.

My Roon core is on a desktop computer on the second floor and stereo in a well treated basement room. Running a high quality Ethernet cable was impractical. So I opted for a Netgear extender and iFi Power X 12v AC/DC converter.

I started out with an inexpensive Cat 8 cable from Amazon. No transmission hickups & great clarity but it lacked the holographic soundstage I had & craved. As a next step I ordered a high quality Cat 8 Ethernet cable from a U.S. Audio Mart seller in Canada.

While many claim no appreciable difference in SQ from Ethernet cables, I found A BIG difference. The magic was back & to my surprise an increase in microdetails and even more holographic soundstage as compared to WiFi streaming.

Just my experience, but glad I made the change.

HK, Yes, always a good day when you get more holography! When you visited me in PA I had a similar setup for internet. WiFi extender plugged into an ethernet cable.

Digital is/can be more fiddly than analog. "Small" changes can have dramatic results.

I was using a Final Touch Audio ethernet cable for years. Last week I received a SRA ethernet cable, I'm giving the ethernet cable at least 200 hours before putting the FTA cable back in to compare.

What ethernet cable are you using?

GS,

Here is a link to the U.S. Audio Mart link for the Ethernet cable. Bob the seller (watchdog57) uses extremely high quality components and cable as you can see from his ad. Designed for noise rejection. He turned around build in less than 24 hours. Priced significantly below the high end brands.

https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650025355-finest-digital-solution-premium-et...

I've only got a few hours of listening, but I'm very impressed with the SQ.

Congrats Roger on getting a SQ increase with going the Ethernet route. I have a home run line going from my audio rack location to my network switch in the basement.  I ran Cat 6a when I redid my house, but I messed up because I should have run like a Cat 7 or 8 going to my audio rack and chose an audiophile cable.

Either way..I do notice issues every once in a while in Roon, but only with Qobuz.  I get audio playback gaps.  Mind you I’m running Roon’s older version due to my computers CPU limitation.
