Dummy Load
11/01/17 at 13:10:38

I very well may be the dummy here but I have a question:

So I live in an apartment & am building amps. Burning in an amp for 100+ hours is difficult because I would have to listen to it (as would my wife). So my question is, can I just put 2 8 ohm 25 watt resistors across the output& let it rip 24/7. In the world I’m coming from, amateur radio, this is known as a dummy load & is used when tuning a radio to keep it off the air.

What do u think?....

In short, yes. In fact I would get 4 resistors so you could create 4,8 and 16 ohm loads.

Hi Denizen,

Thanks for the reply & good idea to add resistors for multiple outputs.

Thanks!
