No doubt Vishay is one of my choices as well. Also recommended are KOA metal film resistors, according to Gold Point Audio, who make some of the finest stepped attennuators that I have seen.

Hello EdGuy and 4krow,
Can't argue the quality of these resistors for the right application. But I wouldn't use one anywhere in a Zen or a clone. There's better choices in my view, and I've played around a lot with component choices in these type amps. I've tried these in my Zen builds, but always preferred other types ( Shinkoh, Riken, Allen Bradley, and some of the newer carbon comps depending upon circuit location ). It's all about system synergy.
But, as always, this is a viewer's choice type of thing and there is no absolute. Whatever floats your boat is the way to go.

Cheers, Crazy Bill

Isn’t the function of the resistor to handle its share in the circuit without coloring anything and without causing any interference/noise to the circuit, if possible at any temperature levels? Then I think the metal foil resistor is the only right one for that purpose, especially in the preamplifiers. It may of course be that I have understood something wrong, but at leastin in my tests the outcome has been consistent.

There are a lot of resistors out there that I haven't tried, mostly due to cost. I have to agree there are better choices to be made in power applications vs audio circuit applications depending perhaps even the type of each circuit. Metal foil is one that I should have tried long ago, yet it skips my mind when ordering. (at $30 ea., now I remember why)
