Two Tone Betsy

Since sales have dropped off a bit since the summer weather set in, I have had some time to work on a couple of projects that have been on the drawing board for a while .....

Since the Sapele (African mahogany) is the only hardwood readily available to me in 18" widths, I have been thinking about a way to offer additional Betsy baffles in hardwoods and came up with the following :

The entire baffle is Cambia ash ..... the middle section in the normal coloration and the outside sections have been "thermally modified" by the supplier to darken them.

Larger photo here.

I have plans to offer some other varieties of two tone baffles in the future and incorporate some interesting and exotic hardwoods.

There are a few other things (in addition to the two tone baffles) in the works that will see the light of day within a few months as well.

They will be found on this page of my website when available.

Happy listening,
Randy

I like the two toned look. Have built a couple of instruments two toned. Good job, Randy.

Just placed an order for these last night Smiley. Love the 2 tone wood I think it will compliment my TORII Jr quite nicely.
It's another jump into uncharted waters by going from a full size box speaker to this design, but I took a similar jump going from triple digit solid state wattage to 20 watt tube and you guys have never steered me wrong. #Excited

I love my Betsy! Do you have a bass augmenter of some kind?

I'm running my Betsy with just a 7 watt SEP and have enough clean volume to work well watching movies (I've become a Netflix junkie). Music just plain sounds like music (I hear live acoustic music frequently, so know what it sounds like). What more can one say.
