Hey Brian,
The SET, specifically, Decware's SETs with SV83s sound more airy up top and the details in the mid and treble registers are to die for. Also the soundstage is really amazing. with my TABOO. I find them a bit bass shy unless you can find the proper speakers that go well with them. But even with my 91dB B&W's with power-sucking crossovers, they sound fine in the bass compartment, as I benefit from mechanical coupling by using the walls behind and to the side of the speakers.
Sounding "pretty" might be a function of how a specific topology is implemented. I heard some push-pulls that sound too tubey and some that sound almost like a SS. My SET experience is very much confined to Decware's and some of the late Don Garber's designs. So, I might be spoiled at that end! :)
At the same time, with my 50-watt per channel push-pull Copland (which I upgraded all the inner wiring with DH Labs later on), I enjoy listening to music more than I used to before.
All good! :)
Best,
Alper
