listening room

I've never liked an ear level soundstage as much as one that comes from slightly above so my system uses speakers slightly above standing height with adjustable height, azimuth and elevation. Both are the same height from the ceiling and have the same azimuth but I've found that my favorite arrangement is with slightly asymmetrical elevation (that is, the forward tilt of the speakers). It's possible to create a  hologram of the performer in a space centered and slightly elevated, as if they were on stage, even if you're seated to the side.

The image shows the hanger prior to installation. Note the knuckle with setscrew to adjust elevation. The hanging rod allows the speaker to be set at various heights. Azimuth is simple, just rotate the cabinets!
