Schiit Gungnir Multibit

Hey All,

For my birthday this year I decided to upgrade my delta-sigma Gungnir DAC to the Multibit version for $500.  By all accounts I've read, particularly on the Super Best Audio Friends site fka Changstar, it is very good and in some cases preferable to the Yggdrasil due to a more analog-like, warmer signature.  Has anyone here heard it or have other feedback?  I look forward to getting the CDAPS members over for a good listening session in a few weeks after things have settled in.

Heck, I like your old DAC.  I have been thinking of multi-bit-ing my Schitt.

CDApS looks forward to the session.  Let me know if you need a loaner DAC.

Upgrade complete.  Just got the shipping notification from Schiit.  Should be in my system within the next week.

Well, the Gungnir MB was in the rig for 48 hours before I had a party at my house yesterday.  When you have people who aren't audiophiles hanging around your room in awe of what they are hearing, you spent your money well.

The detail of this machine over the delta-sigma version is stunning.  I was pretty sure my DAC was my weak link, and now I'm sure my rig is at least 30% better.  One of my best friends was over until 1 am and he thinks everything is better across the board, and was disappointed I didn't do this sooner.  The smoothness of this DAC makes me realize how much digititis was present before.  This really sounds like my buddy's VPI table.

Happy happy guy right now.

We are definitely going to need to do a listening session!!

By the way, is that DAC portable? I'm curious what it would do in my system.

I recently bought a Bifrost multibit and I'm really happy with it.  Great detail and warmth.  Enjoy your Gungnir. I think Schiit makes great dacs that are well worth their price.
