Headphones on the Torii mk3?
07/05/13 at 00:21:20

Has anyone tried using headphones like the Lcd-2,  he-500 or he-6 on the speaker taps of the Torii mk3?

I have a Taboo mk3 on order, but I'm afraid it won't be powerful enough to drive speakers as well as my he-500's.

Will a Torii do both things superbly?

I currently don't have any speakers, but will buy some in a few months.

The reason I'm leaing towards the Torii is because I would have the choice to choosing speakers from about 88db and upwards. I may end up buying speakers with a sensitivity of 96db, but I like to not only have to look at high sensitivity speakers. Therfore the Torii mk3.

Idealy I do not want to have two amplifiers, and hopefully I would get the best of both worlds in the Torii.

Also I might end up buying the Hifiman HE-6 headphone, that needs about 6-8W into 50ohms to sound it's best. A Taboo gives about 1,5W.

I do not question the abilities of the Torii to drive speakers, but headphones is a different and probably less tested matter...
