Mini Torii/ Hawthorne Duet
12/25/12 at 04:38:42

Right now, enjoying some tenor madness… spinning some Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, and Gene Ammons…. The heart and soul of my system is my Mini Torii, which feeds Hawthorne Silver Iris 15 Coaxial and Silver Iris 15 Augie bass drivers housed in custom European Beech baffles.  The front end is a simple Pro-Ject turntable with Grado Gold 1 and a Musical Surroundings Phenomena Phono Pre-amp.  I am hoping to purchase a Decware ZP3 phono preamp in the future.  For critical listening I pull the speakers further into the room.  One day I hope to have the Mini Torii out of the cabinet so that I can better enjoy its physical beauty.  The back of the room opens into the kitchen, and the Mini Torii has no problems filling the large space with beautiful music.

I have a pair of Hawthorne Silver Iris 15... Love theses speakers...I drive them with a Decware Taboo and Decware CSP 2.

Greg,

RE: The Sterlings...I've heard the 15s still do detail but are really good at displacing air and offering realism.

What are voices like on these? Like John Prine or Lucinda Williams?
