Glue for passives?
07/08/11 at 22:08:27

So the passives arrived today! But I'm not sure what glue is best to use to glue them down? I didn't see in the plans where it said what kind to use. Any recommendations? Or is any fine? I have Super 77 spray glue and weldwood contact cement. Once I glue them is there any way to get them back off without destroying them?

Speakerfreak7,

If you go to a Ace Hardware store, You should be able to purchase a bottle of Weldbond "More than great glue" Apply to the passive a pretty nice, to heavy bead of glue and lay the passive into the bore, If you rabbeted them correctly, they'll just fit and stay in place, if you lay the cabinet down with the side you are glueing facing upward.

And No once glued in, it would be almost imposable to remove without destroying the surround. To date, I've never had any reason to remove a passive, you can access anything you need through the driver hole.

OK I will go get that. Which way to the passives go? Does the center dust cap round out?

The paper side of the cone (larger) faces out, felt dust cap inside

Let us know your impressions as it sounds like your getting close.

I have never used Super 77 spray glue. But like to know about it? Hey speakerfreak7, would like to see your work.
