Help with changing the knob's
03/16/11 at 15:11:12

Hi,

I in the mood for changing the three knobs on the amp and replacing them with some old bakelite chickenhead style knobs.

I've replaced the tone knob, that was easy enough to unscrew, but for the life of me, I can't seem to see how to remove the left and right knobs.

There does not appear to be any a screw in either of these, can any one advise on how to remove them ?

Thanks.

Hi Bob,

The two volume knobs are friction fit on smooth 1/4 inch shafts.  The only way to remove them is to pull or pry them straight up and off the shaft.  If the resistance is high, which it probably well be due to the vacuum created during removal, the pots may break.   I can send you new pots should this happen.

Hi,

Ok, thanks for quick reply....

Well they do feel pretty well stuck on and I don't really want to do any major repair work to replace broken pots.

I think I'll just leave them alone.
