subs in

some dampening material and a rubber gasket so im able to access the subs for any reason

I just want to know one thing; why in hell did you stuff the sealed chamber?  Did you test your drivers once the construction was complete and find that the stuffing had some beneficial effect or did you simply disregard the enclosure plans and make it the way everyone else always makes a box?

ive found in the past when building bandpass and ported enclosures and using some dampening material, it takes some edginess of the sound. dont get me wrong, i dont doubt the design at all and the build was based  on the sealed chamber being ever so slighlty larger then the sub was deidgned for (about 4% iirc)

im using it in my escort van in the uk for deep low bass which it delivers nicely if a tad boomy but is compensated for by 2 other 10" in a sealed box.

im currentley in 2 minds whether to do away with the 2 cabinets and build a 36x24 W/O using 4 10"'s

oh, and thanks your opinion, i welcome critisism as i can perfect on what ive built

Nice build Jay. I would prolly build another WO instead of the WO410. The thing is just too heavy and awkward to move around. I nearly tore my sack last time I moved it. But to each his own. Build it and boom !!!

I will haft to agree with Jay on the poly topic. I have notice a small difference in the tuning when loose poly and flat poly are applied in certain areas. Is a drastic change? No, but if you are going to the trouble of building the WO I want to take every step possible to make it perform to it's optimum. Just my two cents.

PS: DirtDawg have you been hanging around 60 and UP. Your post kinda reminds me of him back in the "good old days" of modding the HWK.

many thanks ht-ext

at the end of the day this is my first "crude" build just to try it, ive designed and built bandpass cabinets in the past and wanted to try something different.

if the WO410 goes to plan ill be using birch ply wood for rigity and as for the weight, once its in the van it wont be comeing out. i might need some airbags on the rear axle though Grin

again comments and critisim is welcome.

oh and a WO 36x36 might be for sale soon in the uk.  ::)

Nothing complex or underhanded at all in my query.

...  and, HT-EXT, I have not seen or heard from my dear 60 in about two years or more. He was a fun member with whom to interact, but he seems to be gone on to other things.

Jay, I also tried it both ways (stuffed and NOT), tested it at length, then figured how to alter the throat a bit on one occasion. I have built several of these enclosures and each one had to have some tweaking before I was satisfied.

I was more interested in an account of the thought process leading up to the tweak you chose.

The store where I work sells those same Alpine drivers and we have more of those come back in blown (burned coils) than any other driver we sell.  I suspect that the problem is that they DO actually sound damn good (they really do in my experience) and people have no respect for how inefficient they actually are and drive them to hell and back.

I would suggest that you take care how much power you use and be aware of overdriving your amp.  Do you like the sound of these drivers?  I do, but it seems that some people around where I work are only barely capable of using their gear.

Just a heads-up, mate! Do not allow your amp to clip too much.
