..and it works!  i had the transformer covers copper plated for 40$. it sits on 18 gauge copper plate, which was $20.  the volume control is 1.79 from Home Depot, a 1/2 inch cap! some cherry and padauk wood pieces make up the base.  inside is a hammond box.   how does it sound? really good...and that is in to some 30 year old speakers.  i ordered the 8 inch drivers here and plan to make the speakers from the decware plans.....  then the CCE mod...then ..silver wire speaker cables?   we'll see...one step at a time. being new to this, i want to work progressively so i can discern any changes from an upgrade.  thx to Hasafraker for directing me to the .pdf diagram for the wiring details

Thx, Alan.  That's an ingenious fix for the CCE mod.  I have my Dremel ready....!  If/when I do it, I'll report back.
