Mismatched subs

Has anyone ran mismatched subs in this box?  One of my Rockford P3 4 ohm dual voicecoil died and I had it replaced with a cheaper kenwood 4 ohm single voicecoil (stupid sale price anyway).  Just wanted some input if it will work or sound like crap and kill one of the subs.

I have never try it but one can never tell until you do. I personally would not because there are so many factors agaisnt it working correctly. It's possible to have phase issues and also prolly cancellation issues between the subs being sum together thru the horn. Worst case, speaker damage could occur if one sub (the one with the higher X-max) causes a back pressure issue for the other sub trying to share the same horn. This is just my opinion and should only be taken as that, opinion.

If you want to best performance, then I would use identical subs in the WO. It is a forgiven design but prolly not that forgiven. Just my two cents, hope it helps.
