Currently playing "The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention". Got it on the weekend along with a few more records, but this one seems to be a recurrent client, and finding it very hard to get it of the 'table and into the shelf.. It's my favourite Radiohead album since Amnesiac, despite not being a Radiohead album... in theory.

I'm taking in my JBL's  240Ti's to the technician tomorrow to get new surrounds and upgrade the crossover. I am the original owner. I bought them new 40 years ago. I've had new surrounds replaced twice before, I need to check the coils as well. They weigh 85 pounds each. I don't have a handtruck but I got a couple of dollies. I've got a friend coming up to get me, we're going to bring them down to Analogiique Services before I go to see and hear the exhibit https://youtu.be/o-aNgnBrPRE at Lisson Gallery

Still working through my most familiars after flipping my system "Apple" cart a few days ago.

Abbey Road for now, more Beatles to "Come Together" later
I know, it's cliche, but I have a process to "Get Back" to expectancy with my gear once I change "Something."

Gawd, that's cheeky!

Listening to your old friends recordings is the best way to notice differences in your rig since that music is hardwired into your being.

I prefer the original recordings to the remastered re-issue rarities but I do like hearing the music and the genesis something becoming real and a finished work. I do like alternate takes it's just this remastering stuff. it changes subtly just enough to throw me off.

This is what I did last night, it was Mike Fornatale's 1967 show. All the songs were from 1967 all done in a note for note live execution with invigorated passion. You will note that live it took two guitars to play the parts James Marshall Hendrix played in the studio.

Right, again, BJ.
I am playing the ones I grew up knowing. Boxy drum sound and all. Pre remasters.

I'm getting to know my new set up and liking it, tweaking it, learning it. Thinking after this short time, I'll keep it.

Going to have start all over when I rebuild the baffle. Mine's not like the others I've made. "L"  shape instead of tombstone, floor slam instead of all air.

Been raising kids since the early 90's. Thank god Tidal has the clean versions. Sure is easier when your young. How are your new rectifiers?

Just goofing around, Pal.

Have not had time to sit down with my cryo'ed and non cryo'ed rectifiers yet. Still in boxes.
I stirred things up a bit too much to assess any more than the stirring for now.

Nice old school idea, there with Jimmy Dean.
I played some '60s Eddie Arnold on my mono rig yesterday. Talk about a large face! His voice sounds twenty feet tall and fifteen feet wide, from just the way the old monos are recorded. The piano is wider than my garage/shop. I know it's an illusion but what pleasant bit of magery.

Only complaint is that my Technics table quit spinning during the magic. I can't get it to go.

Giving my ears a rest for the night.

This Band was always a favorite from my misspent youth.
Consistently solid and together righteous every time live.
Very primitive technology created these historic documents.
They rock they roll. Some great sound for its day.
Here we see the Senders at the famous Max's Kansas City Club in New York City. Filmed by Paul Tschinkel for his cable TV show, this hard driving Rock and Roll band delighted audiences who were propelled to their feet by the powerful and energetic music. Thank you Phillippe Marcade, Steve, Billy Thompson & Mr. Hall. Brooke Dearco's fantastic sound at Max's, I believe.

Trout Mask Replica is the third studio album by the American band Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band, released as a double album on June 16, 1969, by Straight Records. The music was composed by Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) and arranged by drummer John "Drumbo" French. The album is regarded as an important work of experimental music and art rock.

Nice.
I haven't heard Mott in a while.

I'm still working toward Square One with my changed out gear set up. Although, I have cheated a lot. So it's still some old familiars, mostly.

Wisbone Ash coming up next after a bit of toil to finish chores.
Sorry, couldn't find a half decent vid to link for you. It's just my old music.

Oh, crap.
You might laugh too then, because out in my garage is where I spend most of my days right now.
With what I have gone through, recently, I set up a mono stack using old sound gear with an old bluray player that can play from USB or disc. Just need a stick, CD or an external drive and that's where I am most of my days trying to get things situated.
(we moved six months ago, btw, and I broke my arm in three places during that mess)
I am just now getting my left wing back into usable shape! Takes a while to heal at my age.
I'm calling it a laugh.
Grin

Not a guitar amp, but it would work! I can show you how. My mono stack actually sounds amazing, if you don't mind a bunch of old JBLs to listen to while you're working.

Why is your system down?

Mine is up and fine inside and I have fun stuff to play with, but, I can't play yet, because as Saruman said,
 "We have work to do!"
