Relistening to this one. . . got stuck in the player so to speak.

This has always stood out for me as yet another New Direction Miles explored. A friend of mine makes a convincing case calling this the "Prog Rock Miles Davis" album. And what also is noticably different is the recording placement of Tony and Herbie, which draws one's attention to them in part because they are usually recorded in a mirror image to the listeners' perspective.

Each of these compositions are portraits in a new way in Miles' work. "Country Son" I sometimes think of as a piece reflecting Coltrane. Tony is a bit Elvin in spots and Herbie is very very "on."

Wow, lots of new good stuff added since I have been focused on other things. My goal for 2021 is to listen to more new stuff (not just Jazz classics of the 50s and 60s which is where most of my listening time goes). So, I found a GREAT Hammond player:

Great pocket playing, and just all around fun... Andreas Hellkvist, a completely new player to me. Two albums available on Tidal, both are good. Sorry about the bad picture - best I could find online.
