I am personally using a PCC88 in my MLB and CSP2 and they work fine. The PCC 189 I don't know about. I thought that was a variable Mu. 7DJ8 would be equivalent to the PCC88.

I forgot to mention make sure that you get a good tube. I have had trouble with 2 Mullard PCC88 (7DJ8) tubes I used in the input position of my CSP2. One of them seemed to cause a low volume in one channel. I replaced it with another one and that starting humming. I fear that both of these tubes could be dying. I am now using an Electro Harmonix 6922 and the unit is dead quiet again.
