02/05/08 at 19:49:41

Hi there !

I'm planning to get a SE84C to drive my Klipsch Cornwalls. Anybody here has tried this combination ? Can you share your thoughts ?

FYI, I moslty listen to vinyl. Clearaudio MM cartridge through a Gram Slee SE II phono pre.

Thanks !

I used  a pair of SE84C-Selects bridged in mono  with a pair of  Cornwalls  for several years.

I  would  oftern  use the  second  amp in another room , and  just  use one Select with the  Cornwalls. I did like having the  extra  power of  both  amps for  heavier  rock or  very  dynamic classical  pieces.

Even  with 2.2watts, they will get plenty  loud  enough for  satisfactory listening  levels. In fact, I  took one  Select to the guy's  house  I  bought the  Cornwalls  from. He had  been using a 150watt solid state  amp on them. When I plugged in the  tiny little Zen and  fired it  up, he was  blown away  by how it  sounded, and  especially  how  loud it  could get  with  so few watts.  He  almost  didn't  want to sell them to me  after  he heard how  good they  could sound.

You will be  very happy  with the  combination.

"Y" connector across the I/P jacks.  Connect the "hot" speaker binding post of a channel to the "cold" binding post of the 2nd channel.  Connect the speaker cables to the "free" binding posts.

Don't use crappy wire for the jumper connections.
