Steve say's alternate drivers should be chosen based on how well they perform in a 4cubic foot sealed enclosure.. See the ''alternate drivers from Dayton''  thread below yours..    Dave Smiley

As far as I know the one and only "approved" Imperial SO speaker is the Dayton 15" Series II ST385-8 15" available at Parts Express P/N 295-130 for around $100.  (Although I don't think Steve has Series II speakers in his Imperial SO's).

Ok, but the Vas on the Dayton is : 9.64 cu Ft and Steve was recomending that it would work well in a 4 cubic foot sealed enclosure.
Ain't that a to much of a difference in number's Huh
(rememder i'm a newbie so my questions maybe dumb) Roll Eyes

Thanks for the help.

Merry,

 Welcome to the forum!

VAS is the a specific volume of air which has the same compliance as the driver, it does not mean that the driver needs that much air space. With that said, the Dayton driver, which I have put into 4 different IMP SO's  does sound great. In a sealed box, not horn loaded it would need a 2.17 CU FT box for the flattest response.

Merry,

Perhaps ScanSpeak in Denmark offers a suitable driver.
