I. Rigid Cast Aluminum Basket
The rigid cast basket with an aerodynamic profile provides the necessary sturdy base for the magnet structure and suspension and allows for the 44 mm max excursion of the cone.

Those numbers don't look aligned with the Dec speaker.  I do not know what the specs are for the Vifa driver that has been recommended too. I could be wrong but I think that is a lot of excursion for this box.  I thought I read that the box will dampen the xmax too.

Hezzu,

The XLS series of Peerless drivers would probably be the worst driver to use in the WO-32. It has nothing  to do with the the specs, other than the extreme excursion, it has more to do with the suround used to get the  extreme, and the shape of the cone.

I'm using XLS-10" woofer in my WO-32. On loud passages it hits the maget, it makes a pinging sound. I got these really cheap on Ebay. I'm switching to the woofer sold at Decware. It does make claen, deep base but can't take any serios power. The WO-32 ROCKS.    Larry

Thx Larry!

I just bought two mono amplifiers for my subwoofers and they cost around 700€...
http://www.bkelec.com/MODULES/bsbpv300.htm

Dont have enough money to buy Vifa's but I think that I'm going to build one WO32 anyway.... next month I have enough money to buy more drivers... Smiley

Now I drive those sub's with an old JVC integrated amplifier... Smiley (105wats@4ohm)

Larry,

I think what your hearing there is the cone flexing, amplified by the horn it can sound pretty ugly. The cabinet damps the driver so well, I don't think you could run the XLS to its max excursion in that box, and with enough power something has to give, its going to be the cone.

And yes, they do rock!!!! Roll Eyes

I showed Steve a picture of  my WO-32 that I built. I also told him about the peerless XLS drivers pinging at loud passages. His solution was to change to the driver that was made for the box.  Larry
