doh! what are those bypass switches for?

Hiya
Just received my very first ever tube amp.
It's the SE341.2
I just gotta know what the function of the bypass switches are exactly? The ones in front of the EL34's.
Of course I DO notice the change in power and sound.

Would some kind person enlighten me?

I'm running a pair of Jericho horns, with a set of  Telefunken drivers(circ. 1955), and a set of satellite Hi Vi tweeters on top to fill in. Plenty O bass.

Thanks
Russ

Quote:
Features that stayed similar to the original is the cathode bypass switch that alters the linearity of the output tube bias resulting in more or less weight in the bass.  Giving you a choice between a warm rich sound, or a dryer "British" signature with tighter but less overall bass.

The above is an excerpt from Steve's design notes/white paper on the Se34i:

Thanks 9anda1f,
the difference in bass was more than obvious, however I appreciate your efforts in clearing that up.
Kinda like an old fashioned loudness button.
The more I use this amp ,the more I love it.

I can't live without the warm rich sound my Decware EL34 Monoblocks give out after the bypass switch was installed!
