SE34I.2 owners read this!

People often ask me about synergy regarding Decware amp and speaker combinations or about particular tubes in our amps which is often a difficult question to respond to since all of the Decware products are designed to work well together and sound good with a variety of different brand tubes... but

I have one - our SE34I.2 integrated amplifier with the Russian winged "C" EL34's for output tubes and the Russian 6N2P tubes for the input stage (vs. the 6N1P's that the amp was originally designed around).  The 6N2P in this amplifier catapults it to a whole new level. It transorms it into well... not the same amp. Dynamics, power output, palpability are now almost unreal. Mated with our HDT loudspeakers this combination will embarrass systems costing 5 figures every time.

We are now shipping SE34I.2's with this tube compliment.

Steve -
What do you think about the 6N2P in the 34I? Either driver or input.
Thanks -
Joel

How about the 6N2P with the original SV83's in a CS? Steve could comment on that I bet.  How about Randy, have you tried the 6N2P in your Select?

Howdy Stone,

Nope ..... not yet.
If memory serves, the original reason for using this tube was to get a little more power or "pop" from the Select.  With the 4 ohm  96 db efficient Parker Audio Behemoths and SO Imperials, I am getting plenty of the above ..... ???

Even so, there are a lot of good things being said about this tube ..... so I will be having Steve send one to hear what it does for my system .....  ;)

Best wishes,

Randy

Cool Randy, definitely report back what you think.  I should just order one and hear what it can do in my set up.  I am not a fan of the 6N1P....6922 does it for me.

I got some 6N2P's and at first (up to 50-60 hrs) I thought they sounded hard, especially in the mid-mids. Now that they are breaking in, I find them very articulate, but not hard. They have great body, a beautiful full frequency response, speed, and have plenty of harmonic information without any sense of mushiness. I love them now that they have smoothed out and look forward to how they will sound when fully broken in.

Will, I think you'll continue to enjoy those tubes.  I really like that tube type.

Lon, I think you are right. I am really surprised how little they sound like they first did. Very pleasantly surprised! Ron from cryoset.com said that for some reason a lot of russian tubes can take 100-200 hours to break in. As good as the 6N2P's sound now, I look forward to that.

I'm glad I found this thread.  I just received and installed the 6n2p tubes today and the sound was so hard and I was disappointed.  Now I know that I need to be patient and let them burn in.  Thanks!

I am sorry but I am just not sure about the 6N2P tube. When I tried these in my brand new amp it made the residual hum so loud that it was unacceptable. Probably due to the higher gain? I have done all the usual checks and have been told that this hum is normal (audible at 8 inches or less from the dust cap of DM944). I am currently using NOS siemens 6922 instead.

Maybe something is wrong with your tubes?  I have the 6N2Ps in place and my speakers are very quiet.  (Klipsch Forte II at 99db).  I can hear a slight buzz when my ear is 3-4 inches fro the tweeter.

It's now been several days with the 6N2Ps and I'm VERY happy with the improvement.
