For HT a DB10 or DB12?
09/21/06 at 17:54:17

Kiss I'm building the WO32 to replace the WO in my living room for the music side of things. I'm also buiding a HWK 12 just for the fun of it, and to hear how it sounds, and I'm going to build the DB for the home theater, and I was wondering which DB would hit those lower sounds better? Thanks.

According to Steve the DB12 has lower bass, but I would think the HWK would be the best choice for HT.

HKW for HT is a no no.  Its higher frequencies only.

DB12 or WO would be best bet out of the bunch.

DB 12 for a average room 2nd choice a WO.
DB 12 goes lower than the DB10 as far as I know. I would say at least 10 hz but I have never measured it.
night and day between my DB12 and DB10 and same brand sub.

plus the DB12 is much prettier

I may build another out of baltic birch one day instead of MDF. I really like the looks and sound.

Yea I think the DB12 is the deal. Using the Baltic or Oak plywood does sound like it would look better and I am making the WO32 out of Baltic. I just finished making the HDT out of the Oak ply with solid oak corners and it doesn't look half bad. Kiss

Can you post a pic of that?
I love the solid corners idea.
Plus I always love to see good woodworking.

Well I dunno if I would call my workmanship good, but it is improving after each build. I'll see what I can do about the pictures.
