SE84CS dumb question (maybe?)
06/02/06 at 17:28:10

Guy & Gals- Last night I went to fire up my SE84CS and the Mullard 5u4 lit up, but not the input or the SV83's. I opened it up and measured the voltages (it was a kit I built) and everything was the same as the day it was completed. I swapped out one of the SV83's no change, swapped out the other and everything fired up. I looked at the schematic but I guess I'm missing something that if one output goes bad those three tube don't fire up?? Anything else I should look at or measure?? Sounded fine and I have more SV83's coming from DeVon next week. Please let me know if I'm missing something else.

Could you have DIY'd your filament string in series as opposed to parallel?

Dr. Sleep - It seems that it was a tube problem. I swapped out the SV83's, keeping the 5U4 and input tube the same. The amps working fine and sounding fine now. Thanks for the replys and tips.
