I think I´ve droned on about the dammar before but old story new ears, like the boring old man at the bar said.

I at first put 1 coat on the main cone and non on the whizzer= not much difference.
2 coats on main and non on whizzer= smother high mid.
1 coat on whizzer= better high mid plus a bit less shout.
Now I got really bold (yeh I´m a chicken) and put an extra coat of dammar on both whizzer and main cone. = Bingo. Takes a bit of time for the cone to break in again after each coat but I found the difference to be on the good tube vs. bad tube scale of improvement, apart from the shout cure which is more black vs. white.
Some will put on more coats than me but this (3 coats on main and 2 on whizzer) hit my spot. And all I can say is sweet.
I used a pre mixed varnish from Lukas mixed with 50% turps and did the application with a softish oil brush and placed the driver on an old turntable, applying from the inside to the out side. Hope this helps

Rap,
Was this applied to Steve's modified drivers with his applied black coating on the cones, or a stock set of virgin white cones?
I have Steves drivers and I want to make sure we are talking apples to apples.
Thanks!

I will try it on a new pair of fe206e and if the result is good i'll go for my fe206em (same as the dfr-8 without the second suspension)

Also a very easy thing to try is a 8 ohms 25 watts non inductive resistor in series with the drivers.
