W032 internal sealed box design
12/01/05 at 16:19:55

I just purchased a copy of the plans for the WO32.  However, if  I use a different driver than the Vifa driver Steve suggests, how is the internal sealed box designed? - simple closed box? or 4th order bandpass rear chamber?  Or are they about the same?  Anyone?  Thanks in advance.  Chuck

find

1 a driver that has a qts of 34 or lower.

2 a low vas that matches up to the size of the WO32 sealed

  chamber

3 a sealed box.....  well its sealed....

4 a low excursion is considered preferable over a High Xmax
5-7 is what some are using. this will give you a tighter

more accurate bass. I would be only guessing if you

could go as high as 15 because of the unique damping.

You may loose the Characteristics that the WO32 is

  famous for.

4 You don't need to model a 4th order just go with the right

specs for the enclosure. The vifa driver was used

because of its close specs and mounting ease. match the
match the driver to the enclosure in this case.

Edit   Oh and good luck! Smiley

the reason for the low X-Max is also to avoid the driver's surround hitting the side of the cabinet.

Just try to get specs similar to the Vifa and Steve's suggested.

When the driver is in you can experiment with placeing chunks of something solid (I use 2x4s) into the sealed section, you will know immediately when you add the first 2x4x6 or whatever if adding will help the sound.

not being a pain but thats one reason.
The WO32 damping ability is reported to be excellant so a higher X Max is possible INMHO. ZIG had spoken about using the peerless XLS because of the damping ability

The most important is how tight and accurate you want your bass.
I would like to add that there is less possibility of distortion also IMHO.
