Hoping for Hemp

Wouldn't it be great if someone sold the Omega Loudspeakers hemptone drivers separately?  I wonder what they'd sound like in an HDT cab?

As far as I can tell ABrown is the manufacturer (or at least the patent holder/licensor of the hemp cone technology)  If you're interested send an email to them (ttub@abrown.com) asking them to make an 8" full range driver for the DIY community, as I did! Wink  They supposedly have something in the works.  Wouldn't it be great to have a USA made driver for a change?! Grin Grin Grin

If you go to the hempacoustics link above and click on "Gallery" they show the hemp drivers in Omega and RL Acoustic speakers.

Great! thanks guys.  The fact that RL is using these $100 drivers is really surprising to me and bodes well for their sound as RL usually use quite expensive drivers like Lowther and AER.

The Qts is much higher than the FE206E and the bass looks to be better (5db higher at 40 hz if the graphs are to be believed). Also compared to the FE206E - Higher Xmax, lower mass, but magnet half the size. Hmmm... This could work well in the original MKI cabinet?

E-Speakers and Solen sells them for around $100 each...

I lost the link. But I read on a forum about someone who had heard these hemp drivers in the LamHorns at the show and was extremely pleased with how they sounded.  They mentioned not being able to afford to buy a LamHorn cabinet (which I can identify with Grin) and was asking if Bob Brines could design a cabinet for them.  Maybe it was Brines forum... will have to look for it again.
