Title: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/09/21 at 05:40:50 Every now and then, like about every 10 years, I look at the "wayback machine" internet archive of decware.com. This is the earliest capture of the site in 1998. https://web.archive.org/web/19980130110943/http://www.decware.com/ It blew my mind so hard I just simply tripped out. There is nothing more extreme than being in two times at the same place. This did it to me... and I bet Lon would trip just as hard as I am seeing it, since he was one of the very FIRST decware customers! We have come an amazing way since then. In 1999 I hired my wife because I had 20 orders on the wall and was spending all day on the phone with UPS and the phone company who found it convent to accidentally bill me too much for shit and the 3 hours a day on the phone straightening things out as killing my vibe. God Bless this hobby, my wife, and each and every one of you!! We are ROCKING it. Amazing shit is folding into my head for the future. Steve |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/09/21 at 05:47:25 OMG Look at this! This is how it literally all started. Without this very page, none of you would be listening to a Decware amp, or reading this post... what would life have been like? https://web.archive.org/web/19980130114153/http://www.decware.com/test.htm You have to remember that in 1998 the screen size was 640 x 480 pixels. |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/09/21 at 06:03:20 Look, This is the magic page for speaker repair! The questionnaire! https://web.archive.org/web/19980130114230/http://www.decware.com/quotes.htm This for whatever reason just crushed it. We had hundred's of quotes that went out every month and speaker repair was over the top. Truthfully, had I stuck with that we would have made a lot more money and have grown much larger by now if I would have stayed with speaker repair. We were the very best. But I couldn't do both that and amplifiers, and I was following a pretty strong calling. So I simply deleted it. Put the square footage to building amplifiers in hope of making a living at it and sharing what I was hearing with the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for risking your money on hearing that dream because there is nothing more satisfying when I listen than knowing I have shared what I am hearing with 1000's of people who are at any given moment enjoying the same escape from 2-dimensionalism -- that I am. The people I have brought into the fold along the way have made Decware the success it is, and their ability to put up with me is far more amazing that what I can do with audio gear. Steve |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/09/21 at 06:06:47 https://web.archive.org/web/19980130141227/http://www.decware.com/surrnd02.htm This is my original metal bench on the back porch where the very first Zen Amp was created and perfected. This is also where I did all my speaker repair which at the time funded Zen Amp development. Steve : ) And HERE is the INFAMOUS "SOCK" slide that garnered several emails of disgust. So unprofessional. https://web.archive.org/web/19980130141757/http://www.decware.com/surrnd11.htm At that time, I wore mismatched socks because I didn't know what day it was and didn't come in contact with people for weeks at a time so using one for a rag seemed perfectly fitting. ::) |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/09/21 at 06:15:32 The very first web page about the Radial Speaker Project! https://web.archive.org/web/19980130131154/http://www.decware.com/radial.htm |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by JBzen on 04/09/21 at 09:55:52 Searching the internet back then it was the image above that prompted further explorations of Decware! It's been a long road for you'll. Congratulations on your success and continued dedication to refinement. John |

Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/10/21 at 04:38:05 I'm sure this image has been squashed to death, but I remember that it was some of the better quality graphics on the web in it's day... which seems completely impossible. If lightning won't get your attention what will? [smiley=tunes57.gif] |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by Steve Deckert on 04/10/21 at 04:44:42 Yes, that was Bendi in a super sized Imperial. She was part of the early Decware crew and a good sport to boot! That Imperial was proportionately scaled for 18 inch drivers destine for a local night club in the area. The only thing that ever beat that was the giant concrete horn in the basement a few years later. Steve |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by JBzen on 04/10/21 at 09:28:58 I remember an image similar to the one above(can't seem to locate in now) without the glare and at a lower profile. It showed one of your cats and/or the original zen amp on the floor. It sparked the idea of building my own room for audio. John |

Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by JBzen on 04/11/21 at 11:43:59 Hi Devon, My question would read like this: If not for women would there be music? John |
Title: Re: Blew my own mind... Post by dpie4444 on 04/12/21 at 00:18:13 Well, we do give song writers loads of material. Complete with emotion, strength, and complexity. The world is better with us.... ;D ;D |
