Sounds like you may have sleep apnea.

There are other threads here with contributors such as Will who have gone into this topic at length. There are discussions about inputs, voltage regulators, outputs, rectifiers, all of which combine to create a sound that you want.

Yes, I've read them all many times. A given tube sounds differently in different amps, relatively speaking.  All the other amp sections have their own threads on this subject. So I wanted to create one for this particular amp.

Actually I don't cough when sleeping, but I do tend to snore when lying on my back, and have even farted ;D

I tried a pair of tungsram el84 from upscale audio for 75 each. The sound was dead muffled and dull. I went back to the stock tubes and haven't bothered since to roll. My opinion, upgrade interconnects and or speaker cables first.

EL84 in a TORII MkIV? Had to be through an adapter. Reminds me of someone who tries that Grolsch beer;  the bottle with the hinged cap. First time you try it for the bottle. Then you'll never drink it again. The amp was designed for a KT66, which sounds damn good.

Ummm Jim, think again, it's not a  Torii.

And some like Grolsch!

EL84's can be used all day long in a Taboo, although I must admit a Tungsram in that position would be my last choice.

I would recommend that Kevin Deal be avoided; he's a sales pusher #1 above all else, and his wares are overpriced.

Oh, and I like Grolsch beer too!

Live and learn. I agree with the Kevin D. comment. Anyway I like how my taboo sounds as set up by Decware so no more rolling for me.
