Title: General Support Question
Post by Reptar on 08/04/19 at 21:01:54

Hi all - not sure if this is the place to post this.

I recently received my SE84UFO and really love it. Today I just "rolled" my first tube in it. I swapped out the 6N1P with a NOS Amperex 6DJ8 and WOW!

What a difference! I am really loving this tube. Wasn't that much to purchase on ebay, very happy I did - just ordered another.

I loved the amp the way it arrived but today it is really singing!

What an awesome amp!

Regards
Steve

Maybe this belongs in the section on the amp. Remember a 6DJ8 will sound a little different from a 6922/ECC88.

My tube rolling taught me that the rectifier tube has a larger effect on the sound than the driver tube on the amp. I finally bought the Sophia 274B Aqua and it lays a solid foundation for the driver and power tubes to shine.

I agree.

That has been my experience as well in the CSP3.

I’m starting to hear an occasional pop out of my speakers. Is a tube starting to go bad? I’ll swap out input tubes tomorrow. My Torii is 2 years old now.

It was the TAD KT 66’s. I swapped in the original EL34’ and it stopped. I have a quad of Steve’s Tungsols on order.
