Does anyone know if I can connect a DAC directly to my UFO2s, or will I need a preamp between the DAC and the UFO2's in order to have sufficient volume? I'm considering getting a DAC such as the Schiit Bifrost. I plan to listen to music on laptop only. So I think the Bifrost will be sufficient .

To be clear the DAC will actually be connected to my Zrock2 first, then to the UFO's. However, I'm not certain, but I don't believe the ZR2 is an effective replacement for a pre.

Tal, will depend somewhat on speakers but I think yes, you can certainly start off with a ZROCK2 and DAC and it may be just the ticket. . . . .

The ZROCK2 adds a surprising amount of gain.
