Title: amp connector adapter
Post by deucekazoo on 03/12/18 at 17:42:10

Another little project off the list. I have had this one on my mind for a while now. I am not a fan of binding posts. I like connectors and started using Speakon connectors quite a bit in my stuff. Was not sure how to do it or what to make it out of and in comes a 3D printer. Finally have access to one so designed my adapter and printed it out of ABS filament. Had to make it out of two pieces and glue them together. Limitations of the printer, I could not get a nice looking upper wall. This adapter was designed so there is no modification to the amp itself. I can remove these and go back to binding posts if I had to.

This is the two halves with the Speakon connector inserted. The bottom two holes fit into the two holes left behind by the binding post. The first hole holds the adapter in place and the second hole is longer to act like a grommet so the wires do not cut on the sheet metal edge.

This is how it gets mounted inside the amp.

Looks great! Speak-on connections are cool.

Thanks Lon, I do like these connectors. Easy to use and easy to hook up. I especially like them on the back of speakers. Don't need to flip the speaker around to connect. Just feel for the port, insert and give it a twist and listen for the click. You know its wired correctly, positive to positive and negative to negative without having to look.
