Title: bikehappy1's system
Post by bikehappy1 on 12/13/17 at 19:49:22

Here's my current setup featuring the Torii MKIV and the ZP3. I also have a 2 shelf unit from Gig Harbor Audio in Washington state. It's made from bowling alley wood and mahogany from Boeing engine crates. GHA has some really nice furniture for good prices too. My next upgrade will probably be speakers to replace the KG4's. I just placed an order for some Traps for my lab at work. Cheers!

Is that a 1200MK2 TT?  An "inexpensive" but big upgrade would be to get some isolation under it.  I used Isonoe footers on mine before switching to a 1200G.  Those are great TTs but need a few mods to really shine.   :)

No it's an LP120 with a 2M blue cartridge. Yes I think that's a good idea with the isolation feet. I have some herbies underneath my speakers. A year ago I sold my 1970's sony turntable and my sweetie bought me the LP120 and that got me re-started on audio equipment. I found Decware on the internet and the rest is ongoing history.

That LP120 looks a lot like the Technics.  Either way, TTs really benefit from good isolation.

Just received the Trapeziums and hooked them right up!! I'm a happy camper at work!

Here's a new pic of the work desktop system. There's a new SE84UFO-25 in the background. Quite the difference from the 200 dollar 15 year old sony receiver!

That is one nice work system!  I’m not sure that you’ll get any work done, though ;D

That speaker system looks so warm and inviting. Wood and tubes, and music. A happy place to be indeed! And much easier than riding a bike, even.

Ok. Here’s another pic of our growing system. There will soon be a %Rock2 but that won’t change the pic too much.

Whoops. Wrong pic.

Great set up, Bike. I know it sounds wonderful!

Sure looks like my old hometown's Flinders Street Station on your computer Bike. I can remember sucking down the brews at Young & Jacksons opposite. Many years ago.
Cheers

You are correct! I had to walk around a bit to fit the pic precisely.

Nice progress with your system.

I'm also interested in the ZP3 , I'm running a modified PS Audio phono preamp that I quite like so I'm not sure about changing.
How do you like it?

Also what do you ride? (another great hobby!)

Thanks! I’m totally satisfied with my ZP3. It needs the right cartridge and/or step up transformer though. Right now I’m all bicycles. I’ve had motorcycles (bmw, Ducati, Honda and Suzuki). Now I have a Scott road bike and a Pivot mt. Bike.

We will need a photo of the set-up when you get to your new house, plus we need to see the VPI!!!

Here's the latest itineration with the VPI. It's dead quiet with the ZP3. I'm running a Hana ML on it.

Where in the signal path do you have your Zrock?  Noticeable difference after installation, or did it have less of an effect than other additions/swaps?

Mine is between the dac and the amp. I think it helps when certain recordings are lacking bass or treble. There are quite a few time when I forget about it.

So your TT doesn't run through it? Or does the TT also go through the DAC?

Title: Re: bikehappy1's system
Post by bikehappy1 on 06/16/21 at 19:18:25

The TT does not run through the Zrock2. It only has one input and one output.

AH okay. So the Zrock is mostly for when you are streaming?

I am just planning for the future carnage to my wallet/bank account. HAHA

Here's a picture of the stereo in the new house. The HR-1's are not in this one. I'll have to pan out.

I have to tear it all apart this weekend because we're getting a couple direct lines from the electrical panel. I have a bit of a hum (TT/ZP3) in the new house. I think the current circuit (pun!) has 22 LED lights in it.

Very nice, Bike!  I’ll bet the new lines will make a big improvement.

Keep us posted on how it sounds after.

Best,

Geno
