Title: XLR to RCA adaptors
Post by Lon on 12/02/17 at 17:38:34

If anyone is looking for a good XLR to RCA adaptor for use with the ZTPRE and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I tried a few and settled on this one:

CF-601-RCA

They are either made by Acrolink or Furutech. Rhodium over silver plated tellurium copper connectors, carbon fiber housing, silver solder and internal connection. The XLR male and female versions of these are used on the EXPENSIVE VooDoo Cable interconnects I use and love the sound of so I tried them out as adaptors, and they definitely sound superior to other cheaper options, no complaint about the sound at all. I got mine from ebay and there are other sources, seem to go for about 50 dollars a pair. Worth it imo.

I just compared these to another pair of a different make I found in a box. . . and man these are clearly superior. Recommended. . . I ordered another set as I find that my tuner sounds better with the single-ended output driving a 3 meter pair of VooDoo Cable Ultralinear interconnects into the ZTPRE vain an adaptor than the balanced output driving a 3 meter pair of WireWorld Oasis XLR cables into the ZTPRE.

I sent a pair of these RCA to XLR to Steve to experiment with. If he lets me know how these shape up in comparison to others I'll post that info here. I expect they will fare favorably.
