Title: A Question about Omnis I Haven't Seen Discussed
Post by EVOLVIST on 05/09/17 at 01:50:03

...or at least not anywhere on this forum, or out there on your uncle Bob's forum.

So, hard panned audio and omni speakers, like the ERR? You know what I'm talking about. Hendrix's guitar starts in the left channel, it has phase on it and it pans to the right, and then back and forth. What do Omnis do that sound? The same as any other stereo image?

Or even another example. Beatles. Some of those mixes where the drums are all the way in the right channel, while vocals are on the left. Does Omnis do anything with that?

How about mono recordings?

I ask because not only am I simply curious, but also, I had some Omega CAMs at one time. Great speakers! The imaging was spooky real. The sound wasn't coming from the speakers, but right from he center of the far wall. The only thing, though, those Hendrixian effects were lost. I don't know why. Lack of crossover?

Anyway, it's not like a HAVE to have that effect, yet it still begs the question (since I've never owened Omnis before), what do the Omnis do to all of the above?

I hate to take this in another direction but I wonder what these recordings you described would sound like in a Taboo with Lucid Mode.
