Title: Guitar mod Post by Corey on 02/23/17 at 05:47:54 Kinman treble mod uses a 130k resistor in series with a capacitor. Kinman used 250k potentiometer Would the value of the resistor change for 500k or even a 1 meg potentiometer? |
Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Lon on 02/23/17 at 11:26:39 I don't know about the resistor value, but 500 would be a lot of treble if it's a single-coil pickup, and a lot for a hum bucker at 1000! |
Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Lonely Raven on 02/23/17 at 16:44:58 Corey, If i recall correctly it scales on an audio taper. A quick Google sounds like I might be remembering correctly. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/kinman-treble-bleed-values-for-500k-pots.1611984/ Personally I do bleed circuits by ear since the harmonics of the particular pickup can change the overall feel of the mod. On my Dimarzio Fred pickup, Satriani picked a specific frequency so he retains those goofy harmonics that pickup is known for - going "by the book" would have choked that pickup as you turned the volume down. |

Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Corey on 02/24/17 at 16:20:39 What value resistor would you recommend for a 1500pf capacitor to attain the most bass response when the volume is turned down? |
Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Lonely Raven on 02/24/17 at 16:28:32 Try a 220k with a 500k pot. |
Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Corey on 02/24/17 at 19:04:25 Thanks Bro |
Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Corey on 02/25/17 at 18:40:32 changing the main 2 filter caps in a Marshall 50 Watt, solid state power supply. The caps are rated at 2200 uf and 50v. I am replacing with Mundorf M-lytic 63v. :) |

Title: Re: Guitar mod Post by Lonely Raven on 02/25/17 at 22:25:48 I'm not a fan of gold, but man that's going to look slick. I use those tuners on all the guitars I parts together. Smooth as anything. |
