Hard to imagine those TTs wouldn't be grossly effected by the sound waves.

How is this one?

What? No room treatment?

Post by Bottlehead on 01/23/17 at 05:11:10

Doesn't seem to be much room for room treatment.

This resembles my setup.

Now, this is room treatment.

That's more of the room treatment from the Diffuser.com site (Swiss builder). They have their curved QRD on the walls, golden horrn on the ceiling, and clear acrylic winged diffusers on the sides.

I'm going to be cloning some of those winged diffusers in the next couple of weeks to see how they work in my listening room. I'll report more in the DIY and/or Room Treatment sections of the forums.

Who likes the look of those loudspeakers?

We got to hear those at one of the Axpona shows. It was a quarter-million dollar setup, and was neat, but I'd heard better in small, sub-$5k listening rooms.

Granted, setting up in a hotel isn't the same as a well treated dedicated audio room where you can tweak every inch of everything - but it reminded me that money alone doesn't make a system great, it's the "everything matters" design.

I don't know.  You hear a system that sounds great in a hotel room then I think the chances are high it will sound great at your house.  However, you hear a system that sounds great in a room that is treated to the hilt and you take it home and it sounds like sh*t because most people don't setup diffusers, absorbers, and all that other stuff.  Of course, if you are spending $$$ on a system the chances are high that you are one of those people that treats their room.

Sadly, people with lots of money and high end gear, usually *don't* treat their rooms, unless they are up-sold into doing so, or have seen the light.

Any speaker or component that sounds worse in a treated room, is probably a poor design. Treated room lets you hear the source better...hell, lets you hear *everything* better. So if you're hearing better and it sounds bad, it probably is. LOL

But yes, I agree that if a system sounds good or better in a hotel room, it would probably be amazing at home...but I'm talking about a $245,000 difference in price!

......why I post every now and then (over the last 15+ years of being on the Decware Forum)....recently, this above thread/just back in September.....about how important it is to treat your room. Talk about a representative sample....of System's with no treatment. Read Steve's comments too.

Anyway, I've had a treated room since 1994, when I read Robert Harley's ` Guide to High End Audio. Nice chapter in there/on the basic's.

Now, I am turning my attention to making my room even better/acoustically. Alway's room for improvement for this area. I have my System covered.

Must be Hell Of A Lot Power to require a fire extinguisher in the room. Looks like the Audio Gremlin laying on the floor might have gotten fried ???

Even if these were the best ever made I doubt they'd fit through the front door.
