These turned out better than I had expected...New system for clamping the veneer which took almost a week to create. I post veneer so my vacuum system won't work. A custom 1-3/8" flush trim bit for straight lining the veneer for the seems. And this is what you get.

I had a pair of these before and let them go to experiment with some other designs. Haven't found anything that comes close to sounding as good in my room. Is there still about an 8 week turn around time if I ordered an new set (black to match other gear)?

Steve's white/pewter HR-Ones are for sale, the exact opposite of black but what the heck, worth a mention.

I'm trying, or should I say, needing to get away from painted for awhile as my set up isn't as good is it used to be. At least for awhile, anyway. Satin, or flat black would be OK as I'm already spraying the tops and bases black!

I see from your post that you miss them. I can understand why. I just made some modifications to my system and they sound better than ever.

HR-1's sound like MG944's that went and worked out with a top athletic trainer and took massive amounts of steroids.
They are more gooder.
I, for the life of me, have no idea why I haven't bought a pair of HR-1's.

Donnie, thanks for the description.

I have a very early version of MG944s. I picked them up at ZYGI's house before he disappeared from Arizona.

They sound great. They have enough bottom that with the right amp a subwoofer is not needed.

I can only imagine the HR1.

I've been wanting to go to a Decfest for years. I have in my mind that this is the year so I can hear them for myself.

The HR-1s must be glorious if they sound better than MG944s.

Mine are absolutely incredible. Bass comes out of them and I keep waiting for them to break or fall apart. I have no idea how that low end is produced out of these babies. Ever since I put them on Auralex stands the things have blossomed.

I'm getting ready to purchase a pair of HR-1's. Is the pic on the Decware site the cherry finish? Could you post a pic of the cherry and the oak finish please.

Yes the photo on the website is the cherry. I don't think I've ever done a pair in oak.

If I find one, I'll post it here tomorrow...

I've never done an Oak pair. I've always thought a pair done in quarter sawn white oak.

Just ordered some HR1's in cherry!!! If Zygi could send me a pic of the oak veneer, I might change my mind. I'm very excited though. Sounds like everyone loves theirs! You only live once!

They are excellent speakers. I can't imagine my system without mine. Congrats! I have a pair in automotive silver paint (which looks a lot nicer than one may think) and a pair in maple. The maple pair looks so wonderful with the maple Mapleshade Samson racks I use.

Thanks Lon. I was going back and forth between buying speakers next or a turntable. I love playing albums but I also listen to a lot of streaming and cds. My KG4’s are oldies and I’m excited to be listening to HR-1’s every day.
