Title: Floods and ZOB damage
Post by Damien on 12/26/13 at 02:12:59

Was told to evacuate my home 12/22 for flooding. Was gone three days. I did get almost 24 hours notice so I took a BUNCH of stuff (5 car loads) I was able to get my ZOB's into a Subaru Outback. Even though my house was not flooded I was still glad I packed as much as I could. 18 years and this is the first time I have been evac'ed. Anyway one of my FRX2's took some damage, just a tiny tear in the cloth between the cone and the frame. There is no damage to the cone. Can this be repaired? Will this impact the sound? I am back in my house and they still sound fabulous.

Hope your speakers are okay or easily repaired and it's quite possible they are. So glad your evacuation was just a safe precaution.

Merry Christmas and enjoy every second of the holiday!

'D',

Sorry to hear about this. I remember working for a small company that came in after the damage was done, and there is nothing like it. Worse than fire, maybe.
The good news is that unless it is say 1" or more, there is a very good chance of repairing the driver, AND not affecting the sound. I will take a closer look at my drivers to see better what the surround is made of. Steve would be of great help with this, and I bet it is something that you can do yourself. Maybe you can get a photo of it. It might help to assess the problem.
