Title: Parker 95 MKII (bookshelf version)
Post by toschek on 03/22/13 at 06:24:09

Will these do well for a bedroom system w/ the Taboo?  95dB for the Parkers vs. 96dB recommended in the manual?  I am looking at some Zu audio Omen bookshelves as an alternative, but they are awfully big looking and I don't really want to spend an additional $400 - $500 if I don't strictly have to.

I am having a hard time understanding the conversion of speaker impedance/wattage as well.   So these Parkers are 4 ohm, but the Taboo is 8 ohm 4.5wpc right?  Effectively how much power will I get from 4 ohm speakers? Half?  Conversely, the Zu Omen bookshelves are 12ohm so what effect does that have on output power?

Thanks for your help guys & gals.

FWIW toschek, when my Taboo MkIII arrives—it is now en route—I plan to eventually make it part of a bedroom headphone rig, with speakers. My current #1 is a set of Parker 95 Signatures. Given how my Taboo MkII performed in backup duty to my Torii, I cannot imagine it will do anything but beautifully.

I was just mentiong these (well it was the Model 95 Signatures) in another thread in the Torii III forums as a possible choice for near-field listening and I just read a really good review of the Parker Audio Model 95 Signatures on Steve Hoffman's Forums and they were paired with Decware as well.

From Review,
Parker Audio came about with one mans obsession to find the perfect speakers for what he considers the perfect amp, a Decware SE84C-Select which is a very simple single ended triode utilizing EL84 power tubes. The man is Dave Dutill (http://www.ParkerAudio.net).

p.s. I think I read somewhere that if you buy it in kit form - Zygi (TPA) is the recommended builder of the kits.
