I just recieved my long awaited Torii III and no tubes of manual were in the package.  Only one box came with shipment. Should I have recieved a second box or were your amps packed with tubes in the same box.
Walt

This in from Decware staff, tubes shipped next day.

How long did you have to wait for your amp? I'm going on two weeks now and I'm wound up like a 8 day clock. It looks like it takes 6 weeks, by then I will be spinning like a top.

I waited 6 weeks.  I can relate with the wait and its toll.  Right after I ordered my Torii I sold the First Watt F3 and B-1 pre-amp so I have been without music for awhile and I am not a real big TV person.
I have had the amp up and running for 8 hours.  It has already started to account for itself going from smooth and rich and kinda closed-in but with a BIG sound with slighly loose bass to slowly cleaning up and imaging farther back.  This amp does not sound bad out of the box in the typical way.  I am quite amazed at the richness of its sound and how dynamic and complete the sound is.  I shut it off for a few hours and will resume listening again in a few hours.   I am so excited about the sound of this amp after break-in because what I hear now is so far above what I imagined it could be.  This amp has a sound that allows you to just relax.  Sign me up for the club!!!!

Hi Walt,
What speakers are you using with the Torii?

Brian,
A little more than  two years ago I purchased a Hammer Dynamics kit and the resulting months have built the most obsessive-cumpulsive pair of Hammers I could.  My outboard crossovers weigh 23 lbs each. Some mighty big North Creek Inductors.
I probably would have stopped a long time ago if I had this amp but the speakers definatly love the contol this amp has.
The Hammers are 97 db efficient using a modified 12 inch full ranger with a tweeter mounted on a paddle allowing it to near the center of the 12" drivers voice coil so they are aligned to act as a point source.
There was one review on them by Dick Olsher in Enjoy the Music. Sadly the designer died shortly thereafter and the product never saw commercial production. The kits can still be purchased.  There claim to fame and what drew me to them is a full rich low midrange.

I remember studying the Hammer speaker when I first discovered Decware. A very interesting design.  It sounds like you got them sounding the way you like them.  I think I remember a Fostex bullet tweeter was swapped in by one internet correspondent who liked the change.

Like most DIY projects all sorts of wholesale changes have been made during the build process.  I tried to stick to the basic design swapping caps and resistors and even that did not achieve predictable results. I have a bucket of parts that did not make it.
