Title: SE84 Diy Bridging to Mono Post by rroot on 10/03/08 at 09:53:49 Hi I recently purchased 2 diy amps and want to bridge them to mono. The assembly manual is not specific about how to bridge them. I noticed in a review of the original zen he explained how to do it . This sounds complicated. Is there a way when assemblying them to bridge them on the board , What I mean can you bridge the 2 output transfromers in series istead of at the speaker outs. Can I use 4 ohm speakers. in that cofiguration. If the above is not possible I still neeed to know how to bridge using the speaker outs. Thanks for your patience .I'm long time tube fan but new to set building Thanks Randy |

Title: Re: SE84 Diy Bridging to Mono Post by Steve Deckert on 10/06/08 at 23:21:16 To bridge an SE84DIY you series or parallel (your choice) the speaker output jacks and use a Y-Cable to feed both input jacks. This could easily be done on the board with additional jumper wires. When bridged each channel of the amp effectively sees half of the speaker load, so an 8 ohm speaker becomes 4 ohm. The amp is stable all the way down to a dead short, and would be perfectly happy if it saw a 2 ohm load - so yes you could use 4 ohm speakers in that configuration. -Steve |

Title: Re: SE84 Diy Bridging to Mono Post by Alvaro Oliver on 07/04/17 at 23:19:04 According to ZKIT1 Assembly Instructions in https://www.decware.com/newsite/SE84CDIYINSTRUCTIONS.pdf : "To series the outputs, hook the left channel negative to the right channel positive with a length of wire. Use the remaining posts to drive the loudspeaker." So I guess your drawing is showing a series configuration. Also, don't forget to also bridge the inputs, for example, using an "Y" RCA cable. |
