This
speaker
design is an experiment in pneumatic
planar
technology, something I've never seen elsewhere. This
set is for your desktop. The wave front is IN
PHASE coming off both sides of the panel. They
image like crazy. The down side is very low efficiency
and very rolled high frequency response. Nevertheless,
for the guys who like to tinker with new ideas we have
made some plans and design notes.

This speaker
design
is based on the 1956 Jensen Imperial folded
horns. After building several from the original Jensen
prints over the years we re-designed it to improve the
tone, rigidity, and efficiency. These 28 cubic
foot horns stand over 5 feet tall, over 6 if you use
a bent wood high frequency lens like in the picture.
For a world reference in TIGHT bass, these actually
beat my reference Acoustat Monitors (electrostats) for
making music sound completely live once! Typical Response
20Hz ~ 20KHz. Speaker
design as it happened.

This
speaker design was an attempt
to make a speaker from readily available parts that
kicks butt for around $500 including cabinets. Now
the exact parts (cabinet, midrange, tweeter) are no
longer available - go figure! But, for any do it yourselfer,
a simple 2 cubic foot sealed box isn't too hard
to come by. The woofer that this design is based on
is still available, and you could choose your own midrange
and tweeter without harming the overall design.

This
subwoofer design is rock solid.
We did it in the early 90's for car audio but
found it has merit in any home system as well. It's
a box with very low distortion and very clean bass with
great efficiency. It also accommodates a variety
of 10 inch woofers because it has an adjustable Q. To
date, over 17,000 of these sub boxes have been built
around the world with overwhelming positive feedback.

This
subwoofer design is a larger
interpretation of the 10 inch design above. It
uses one or two 12 inch woofers. It also has a
transmotional insert for fine tuning to a specific driver
like the cabinet above, but it's larger size allow it
to dig deep into the lowest octave with amazing clarity
and efficiency.

This
subwoofer design was done in
the early 90's for night clubs that need huge SPL. It
uses between one and four 15 inch drivers to give you
a variety of signatures - everything from peaked up
boom to flat, tight and accurate. It's large size
and variety of woofer loading possibilities make it
almost a generic box like the two above. You can
get good results with a huge variety of 15 inch woofers.
affectionately called the "House Wrecker"
because so many people make it for the home.

This
subwoofer design was done
specifically for cars with fair size trunks. It uses
two 10 inch woofers. The 12 inch cabinet height
makes it possible to fit under some rear decks. It
uses a low mach porting design that assists the band
pass in efficiency and helps broaden the response. Called
the "Lowrider" it makes a good show box. Typical

This
subwoofer design is very specific
for truck cabs. It fits in smaller and standard
size trucks with a depth of about 7 inches allowing
the seat to be all the way back. Set up for use
with two 10 inch woofers it has wonderfully tight and
non-fatiguing bass. Some modifications such as
the tire jack may need relocated in order for this cabinet
to fit.

This
subwoofer design was done
with the serious audiophile in mind who needs something
exceptionally fast to keep up with his or her electrostats,
Lowthers, or horn speakers. It's a wicked design
using two 10 inch woofers. This is another one
that has been praised throughout the world for it's
sound!
