ABOUT THESE FINE SPEAKERS
This is the fifth and final generation in
this unique loudspeakers evolution. Now simply called the Decware ERR's
or Decware Radials, they obsolete the prior models!
The most recent models, RL1.5 and RL3.0, have been discontinued.
NEW DRIVER: The New Decware Radial
Loudspeakers feature the final and best Decware Extended
Response Radial Drivers made to date - the result of 10 years of
continued R&D that took place after the proprietary designs debut
in 1998. The radial driver still remains crossoverless.
NEW CABINET: We also took what we
learned from the RL3.0 and improved the cabinet design with a passively
loaded plinth floating below the cabinet.
NEW RESULTS: With these final
improvements you can expect full rich room filling sound throughout
your living space with the kind of holographic imaging that will have
you and everyone who hears them shaking your heads in total
disbelief!
BASS RESPONSE: Bass response with the
radials was always nice but it wasn't until the RL3 that it changed to
impressive. The ERR's have even more weight and coherency in the
lower registers than the RL3's did, a big part of the reason why the
RL3's immediately became obsolete.
SMALL ROOMS: If you're cursed with a
tiny room and wished you had a sound stage that literally made the
walls disappear... there probably isn't a better speaker for
accomplishing the task than the ERR's (Extended Response Radials).
LARGE ROOMS: At any given point in a
room you can never hear more than 30% of the direct energy from the
radial driver - unlike a conventional speaker where you can hear 100%
of it if you sit directly in front of it. In the listening
position in front of a pair of ERR's you'll hear the equivalent of a
93dB speaker. However, the radial driver itself is considerably
beyond that figure making it terrific for filling large rooms and even
cathedral spaces with full expansive sound. Interestingly enough
you don't have to turn them up loud to hear them in other rooms of the
house... which means when you walk back into the listening room you
also don't have to turn them down.
TUBE AMPLIFIERS: The ERR's are a tube
friendly loudspeaker. It's your basic single driver full range
crossoverless speaker with a tweeter to extend the top end response.
With this high efficiency comes great speed and resolution but
unlike many of the popular speakers for low power amps, these will
never sound lean or forward.
ERR's are a naturally resolving
speaker with a laid back sound stage of excellent width and depth.
They never get in your face, and can even be used near field.
Another bonus is how forgiving these speakers are to set up. No
tape marks on the floor - you won't need them.
SYNERGY: Few amplifiers image as well
as low power SET amps and few if any speakers can explode that sound
stage like the ERR's. Why not get the two together and see what
happens?
POWER NEEDED: Ideal power for SET and
other tube amps is 2 watts in tiny rooms, 4 watts in small rooms,
6 to 12 watts in larger rooms, 25 watts when you just want to really
show off in any size room.
SURROUND SOUND: Many people have
thought they heard more than two speakers when listening to the ERR's.
But that's because they've never heard a THX setup with 5 or 7 of these
speakers. By far the most impressive and seamless channel to
channel performance we've ever heard on Movies. Part of the
reason for this is that you can set the ERR's literally against the
wall and flood it with sound for your side and rear channels. Although
not designed as a home theater loudspeaker, ERR's have proven to be the
absolute ultimate demonstration of multi-channel sound.
ADJUSTABLE TOP END: The Ribbon tweeter
can be adjusted both in amplitude and in signature via an externally
located capacitor and resistor. This way you can take complete control
over the top end matching it to your room perfectly and without the
fidelity robbing effects of L-PADs. Some also find the ability to
roll caps on the tweeter refreshing as they explore the sonic
differences from one hi-end brand to another.
IMAGING: A conventional loudspeaker
could possibly disappear this well if it were perfectly set up
in a room that was treated on all four walls with floor to ceiling
quadratic diffusers... A serious commitment that's usually not even
possible in your home not to mention incredibly expensive. The ERR's
will perform to this level even when casually placed in almost all
living spaces without a single ugly diffuser hanging on your walls. (to
understand how this is possible you can read the white
papers of the first radial design) So if
you're into this hobby in part or in full for the illusion of
completely 3D sound and perfect imaging here is a way to get there and
do it in the comfort of your home with very little effort.
Radial wave fronts are nearly perfect for
accurate reproduction of spacial acoustics until you reach high
frequencies where the acoustics of your listening room makes just the
opposite become true. The ERR's switch from large radial wave fronts to
a precise point source at 8kHz. This is in part what separates the
ERR's from other omni directional speakers on the market.
