| Once
again we are inviting our past and future customers into
our home and business for a three day audio fest! We
will demonstrate our electronics
and loudspeakers
as well as other compatible speakers and electronics from
other manufactures.
Come
and see where Decware amplifiers are made and experience our reference
listening
room.
There will be good food and drink provided as well
as ample room for camping should anyone not want to stay
in one of the 30 nearby
hotels. It will start on Friday at noon and
end on Sunday at 6:00 P.M. Decware is located
right on Peoria Lake, part of the Illinois River.
The
event is split between two locations about 100 yards
apart - Our home where the Studio will be the center,
and our Shop where Steve will be demoing our reference
listening room throughout the event.
Friday
will be a free-for-all day for non-Decware gear.
This means you can bring your amp, preamp,
source or speakers to see how they would sound
with our products. Wondering if your speakers will
sound good with one of our amplifiers? This
is the day to find out. Parker Audio and possibly
other small manufactures will be showing their speakers
during this time. We will be providing food
around 6:00 P.M. and drinks throughout the day.
Saturday
after everyone gets back from breakfast we will
start demos in the Studio around noon. Steve
will start the demo's with the first Zen Triode
amp ever built and the stories behind it - kind
of an overview of how Decware started. In
addition to a short overview of each of our products
there will be a question/answer session after each
one. Some new things will be demonstrated
also this year that we think you'll find very interesting:
Steve's
new Imperial SO (Sub Only) folded horns that do
a true 20 cycle note unlike anything you've likely
experienced. These horns are based on a new
technology that several engineers are saying re-writes
conventional horn theory.
A
new concept is also being explored - an all Triode
class A sub amplifier that addresses many of the
common problems with getting subwoofers to sound
good. Steve will be demonstrating the prototype
of this new amplifier and wait till you hear it!
Also
on the topic of speakers, we have developed a new
design that handles the rear wave of a driver like
a one-way valve. Sound exits the cabinet on
the negative cycle and on the positive cycle no
sound exists in the cabinet. It is the most
open sound you'll hear from the popular 8"
full range single drivers next to an open baffle.
Depending on how these are received at the fest
we may put them into production afterwards. The
same design has also been scaled down as a small
stand-mount speaker using a single 5.25 inch full
range driver.
This
is also your opportunity to take another serious
listen to the RL-3's
which have been improved since last year even though
no one thought they needed any improvements! And
we will unveil the new HDT MK II's. These
do not replace the HDT's which remain in production,
but offer a new model entirely. The MK II's
are based on the original
1980's design and configured as a 2-way speaker
with a 4 ohm rating and efficiency of 94dB 1w/1m.
These speakers are smooth, warm, transparent
and have excellent weight even with a single SE84CS
amplifier!
On
the topic of amplifiers, I'm sure the Taboo will
be turning ears but we will also be debuting our
replacement for the TORII, a new 25 watt push-pull
amplifier featuring a choke regulated dual mono
power supply with tube voltage regulation, tube
rectifiers and no feedback. Self biasing and
compatible with EL34's, 6550's and KT88's it has
something for everyone!
Saturday
evening around 6:00 PM food will once again be provided!
After we eat Steve will have a general question/answer
session in a format not unlike our forums, where
you can ask him your personal system related questions,
listen to the answer and then comments from the
rest of the group. This should prove to be
very productive so please save all your "Steve
questions" for Saturday evening.
Sunday
morning everyone will meet for breakfast and return
to the Studio for a continuation of Friday's free-for-all
until 6:00 PM when the event ends.
Please dress casual for this event.
There is no charge to attend. Plan to
have any electronics or speakers you've brought
back in your car by the time you retire on Friday
evening so we can have plenty of room for Saturdays
demos.
