I own a Blaupunkt BMA 5350B car amp, but I´m not sure how to configure the woofer output. Literally, it is printed in the woofer output: 1 4ohm, 1 2ohm, or 2 4ohm woofers. Other question is what happens if I use in mono this output? Does it be 2 ohm stable or 4 ohm stable? |

Posted At 18:18:57 06/19/2001 This is a great amp! The sub channel alone is rated at 150 watts into 4 ohms. It is 2 ohm stable. The sub channel can therefore be loaded with (2) 4 ohm drivers in parallel or (1) 2 ohm driver such as a dual 4 ohm voice coil driver. The sub channel is only one channel and therefore no bridging can be done. It has (2) red connectors and (2) black connectors which may be confusing since there is only one sub channel. The reds are actually the tied together as are the blacks. It was done this way to provide a way to easily connect two drivers to the amp. So if you had one driver for example, you could use either one of the red and either one of the black connectors. Mathamatically, loading the sub channel to 2 ohms would yield close to 300 watts. The other four channels are 50 watts each into 4 ohms. Experience has proven that you can load the sub to 2 ohms, but load the other 4 channels to a minimum of 4 ohms or it will overheat. This amp has very low distortion characteristics, much better than the new Blaupunkt amps. If it fails, it is worth repairing. Its good stuff. I am always looking for failed BMA 5350B's to recondition, but they are over 10 years old and getting scarce. I like the variable crossovers and gains built in. They make a system easy to install and set up since no external crossover is needed. |
